Web Design

Whether you require a simple web presence or a more complex website, Freewheelin have been crafting attractive, effective, conversion-driven websites for over 12 years. Responsive/Mobile friendly design & FREE SSL certificates as standard. We know our stuff!

The predominant focus of Freewheelin is designing and developing websites that market themselves through top online search rankings from services such as Google. For example 99% of Freewheelin's visits and business come from Google and other search engines, hence no need to pay for any other advertising, online or offline.

Before we start a project it is vital we determine your aims for your website. There are numerous aspects to discuss, but initially the first aspect would be; do you require a Brochure/information website or a CMS (Content Managed Website) ?

To give you an idea, below are two examples of websites we have designed. One a Brochure/Information website, the other a CMS website:

Brochure/information website

A Brochure/information website is the online equivalent of a printed company brochure containing all relevant information about your business. Typically comprising 5-10 pages that include a home page, information about who you are, services and products, testimonials and contact details. As opposed to a CMS website there is no functionality for the client to update the website themselves. It is usually the case that the client sends us any updates required via email, for example; a new project finished.

The Laminate floor fitter is a good example of a Brochure/information website. A recent website, in only 3 weeks the Laminate floor fitter is now ranking number 1 for their chosen keywords.

CMS website

A Content Management System (CMS) is a system that helps clients manage the creation and delivery of content on their website. For example; updating their blog/news page, creating and updating latest work image galleries or simple text/content updates.

We use WordPress, the most popular content management system (CMS) on the web. If you can use Microsoft Word, then you can easily use WordPress to manage text/image updates and amendments at your convenience.

Freemasonry in Lincolnshire is a good example of a CMS website. They take full advantage of the CMS system, updating their blog on a daily basis. The site also incorporates a members area and a variety of web based software such as 3D flipbook and PDF reader.

If you are looking to sell your products/services online, then we offer very cost effective eCommerce solutions.

As with most web based solutions the options out there for eCommerce are numerous and often baffling! We aim to take the hassle and confusion off your hands and create an eCommerce website you can be proud of and more importantly can control and update - stress free, with ease!

We help you through the whole process, from: Domain name registration, hosting, eCommerce platform, payment processing, training and finally on-going support.

You may have heard of some of the big name eCommerce platforms out there? Lets take Shopify for example and the reasons you may want to choose an alternative to the big name platforms for your eCommerce solution:

  1. Vendor Lock-In - Shopify is a hosted platform, which means there is a risk of losing your store forever if Shopify decide to shut up shop. Another problem with a hosted platform is migrating your store to a different host. If (god forbid) you decide to leave us, we would hand over your website with all its files, which can then quite easily be migrated over to another host. With Shopify and similar hosted platform solutions, your store’s design, your blog posts, store policies, and other pages on your site would have to recreated from scratch!
  2. Pricing - Don't be fooled! Initially their plans seem quite affordable but once you start digging deeper, you’ll realize it can prove an expensive business to launch your e-commerce business with Shopify. Freewheelin have no hidden costs, once we agree on the approach and price, that's set in stone.
  3. Very Expensive Add-ons - Our eCommerce solutions provide all you need to start selling your products/services online, BUT sometimes you may require an additional functionality that isn't included. For example you may want provide a gift wrap service at checkout. This "add-on" can be purchased for a one-off charge of £15. Spotify charge monthly fees for a number of add-ons. For example if you require an exit popup to help build your mailing list an additional $24/month will be required.
  4. Customization Options - Shopify makes it easy to upload the logo for your store and set your colors and fonts. However, if you want more customization than that, you will either have to hire a Shopify designer or learn how to code yourself. It's a steep learning curve! We have all that covered.

We use two eCommerce platforms, dependent upon your needs and requirements:

  1. Woocommerce:  This platform is a "bolt-on" to WordPress, basically their eCommerce plugin. It's very flexible and can be easily added to an existing WordPress website or can be built-in from scratch.
  2. Opencart: This platform is a standalone open-source eCommerce platform. Everything you need to create, scale and run your eCommerce website.
